The science - and practice - of living well
Nutrition · Metabolic Health · Energy · Strength · Movement · Sleep · Stress · Environment ·
And most importantly, Habit change.
If you’re a "young" mid-lifer who genuinely wants to improve your health, but sticking with healthy habits feels incredibly hard, you’re in the right place. Knowing what you should be doing is one thing. Actually making it happen, consistently, in the middle of work, family, stress, busy days, tired evenings and everything else life throws at you, is another.
Sunshine & Strength is a mix of science, self-understanding, and practical ideas to help you figure out what supports your body and health and, more importantly, turn that knowledge into habits that actually work in your real life.
I’ve spent more than 20 years working in health, including 12 years in the NHS across critical and acute care, and more than a decade studying and working in nutrition and lifestyle medicine, both in private practice and within the NHS.
I have a couple of degrees and plenty of further training, courses, seminars and webinars under my belt. I’m trained in nutritional therapy, clinical nutrition and lifestyle medicine, CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia), breathwork and mindfulness, and I’m also a qualified fitness instructor.
Over the years, I’ve watched too many people receive a diagnosis, struggle with illness, and sadly, lost too many people far too soon. This kind of thing makes you question what we could be doing differently, not just when someone becomes unwell, but much earlier.
This is a big part of why I’m so passionate about helping people understand all the many things they can influence, and making healthy living feel practical, achievable and worth doing long before health forces us to.
My approach brings together the science of health with the realities of everyday life, helping you understand what may be going on in your body, while also tackling the habits, behaviours and messy human stuff that determines whether any of it actually makes it into your life.
If there's one thing I've learnt, it's that true health rarely comes from the flashy things, the quick fixes, or the fads that seem to be everywhere we look.
It's the ordinary things, done consistently, that have extraordinary effects.
My aim is to help you stop constantly starting over and build a way of living that feels natural, lasts, and gives you the health, strength and freedom to enjoy your one precious life.
So, if you mostly know what you should be doing to look after yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally, but somehow real life keeps getting in the way, or you are sick of the latest fads, quick fixes or flashy things, you're in the right place!
